Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500 but that victory was overshadowed by the horrific crash of Ryan Newman.
Newman was in the lead on the final lap when he was bumped by Ryan Blaney and the collision sent the No. 6 car into the wall. It then became airborne after another car struck it. Newman's car skidded across the raceway igniting a trail of sparks before it came to rest. Crews immediately came in and put out the blaze.
Newman was taken out of the car and put on a stretcher, according to WFTV. He was taken to a hospital where his condition is unknown.
