The Sons of Liberty Los Angeles Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution held its 38th annual "Massing of the Colors" event that celebrated George Washington's birthday on Sunday, Feb. 16, at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles.
Uniformed color and honor guards from active military, reserves, Reserve Officer Training Corps, Junior ROTC and historic re-enactor groups presented American and other flags near the cemetery's Hall of Liberty.
The cemetery provided a fitting location for the event, with its "The Birth of Liberty" artwork — the largest mosaic in the U.S. — and bronze statues of Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
The patriotic event also included a flyover by the Vintage War Birds.
The Sons of Liberty Los Angeles, a nonprofit founded in 1908, holds meetings, genealogy classes and other patriotic activities. For more information: www.sons-of-liberty-sar.org
