Junior Tim Worrell scored 16 of his career-high 27 points in the second half to lead 13th-seeded Bayonne to a 65-50 victory over 12th-seeded Secaucus in the preliminary round of the Hudson County Tournament in Secaucus.

In defeat, Secaucus junior Jamling Lama scored his 1,000th career point.

In the fourth quarter, freshman David Dix scored 11 points and Worrell had seven for Bayonne (7-18), which closed the game out on a 24-12 run. Dix finished with a career-high 15 points, while Koi Kirk and Ivan Alas added eight and seven points respectively.

"We played the best game we've played all year," said Bayonne coach Stephen Russell.

Last year, Bayonne lost to Secaucus in the preliminary round, 55-52. This year, Bayonne is moving on to play fifth-seeded Snyder in the first round on Thursday.

For Secaucus (16-5), Issac Conil made seven 3-pointers to finish with 23 points. Agon Ferati had 13 points and Lama added 11.
