Season 5 of The Expanse has officially wrapped principal photography, prompting a wave of behind the scenes photos and more, as cast and crew celebrate the completion of production on upcoming episodes of the science fiction series.

Series director Breck Eisner (who lead some crazy camerawork for the upcoming season), posted a photo of much of the main cast of the Amazon Prime Video series, including the full crew of the legitimately-salvaged Martian warship the Rocinante.

From left to right, the photo captures Dominique Tipper (ship's engineer Naomi Nagata), Frankie Adams (Martian space marine Bobbie Draper), Wes Chatham (ship's tough guy Amos Burton), Cas Anvar (ship's pilot Alex Kamal) and Steven Strait (ship's captain James Holden).

The production office showcased the behind-the-camera talent with their own photo, from the last safety meeting held at the beginning of the final day of principal photography for Season 5.

The Expanse makeup department head Brian Hui also posted a behind the scenes photo from the Rocinante set after the Season 5 wrap:

While Hui previously posted photos from The Expanse Season 5 wrap party, the official end of production was celebrated with gifts, most intriguingly, a set of custom made The Expanse trading cards, printed by trading card giant Topps. Created by The Expanse graphic designer Kim Sison, the trading cards were gifted to cast and crew by Eisner.

"Your tireless effort and boundless energy have helped to create one of the great shows on TV. It has been a pleasure to work with you all these past four years and I look forward to the next four," Eisner wrote, signing off with the words "Yam seng," a Cantonese toast absorbed into the creole language of the Belters.

Chris Danelson, VR concept designer for The Expanse (who also made this great video, revealing the relative scale of different spacecraft in The Expanse future), shared a video revealing the cards in the set, which includes not just images of the series' characters, but also trading cards with The Expanse crew and one capturing the announcement of the series' move to Amazon Prime Video in its fourth season.

While production on Season 5 is complete, there's still a lot of post-production work to be done before the premiere of new episodes on Amazon Prime Video. New episodes are expected toward the end of 2020, in-line with the December premiere of Season 4, but no official release date announcement has been made. Of course, that's not stopping The Expanse writers from teasing fans:

The next season of The Expanse will follow events laid out in the fifth novel of James S.A. Corey's book series, Nemesis Games. Season 4 concluded with a harrowing cliffhanger, ending just after Belter terrorist Marcos Inaros (Keon Alexander) and Filip Inaros (Jasai Chase Owens)—Marcos' son, estranged from his mother, Naomi—launched asteroids cloaked with Martian stealth technology at Earth.

For anyone hoping to catch up in time to see how the attack will affect the balance of power in the solar system, all four seasons of The Expanse are currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
