MANCHESTER, MI -- The Manchester wrestling team took an early lead during the Division 4 team regionals championship match against Springport and carried that momentum to a championship.

The Flying Dutchmen defeated the Spartans 58-14 at Manchester High School on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 to advance to next week's state quarterfinals in Kalamazoo.

In the opening round, Manchester defeated Dansville by a score of 72-6, while Springport defeated Byron 40-27 to advance to the championship round. During the championship match, Manchester used their veteran roster to pick up a variety of key victories to extend their lead over Springport and leave the Flying Dutchmen fans in attendance with something to cheer about.

The trip to the state quarterfinals is the seventh under head coach Steve Vlcek, who has been the leader of the program since 1991.
