Ryan Croddick netted the go-ahead goal in the middle of the third period for top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven, No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20, in its 3-2 win against fourth-seeded Marlboro-Holmdel in the semifinal round of the Handchen Cup at the Red Bank Armory in Red Bank.

Rumson-Fair Haven (14-2-3) scored two goals in the first period before Marlboro-Holmdel (6-7-3) responded with two of its own in the second. Jack Spagnuola and Max Nicholson had the other two goals in the victory while their teammates Jack Whitelaw and Brett Pritchard each logged one assist.

Ronan Hickey turned away 16 shots for Rumson-Fair Haven as Dmitri Kapranov made 39 saves in the losing effort.

Rumson-Fair Haven is slated to take on the winner of second-seeded Middletown South and third-seeded St. Rose in the tournament championship on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
