Chris Hixon's son Corey Hixon and Abel Garzajoin in a moment of silence before the second annual Chris Hixon Memorial 5k Run on Saturday February 15, 2020 on Hollywood beach. Chris Hixon was a victim of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooing on February 14, 2018. He was an Athletic Director, Coach, and Campus Monitor during 20+ year career within the Broward County Public Schools of Blanche Ely High School, South Broward High School, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. To continue his legacy and continue to take care of student-athletes, a scholarship in his namehas been created for student-athletes at the three schools he worked at.
